Dentist Appointment

K had her half yearly dentist appointment last week. While waiting for her turn, she played some arcades.

This visit she didn't need to sit on Mommy's lap. She sat all by herself.  She got to wear headphones and watch a Dora DVD up top.

First she had her teeth cleaned and got a fluoride treatment.

Next she took x-rays of her teeth. She followed the instructions and stood very still.  The x-rays showed her teeth are pretty crowded.  Not surprisingly since Mommy's teeth were like that.  The dentist suggested seeing the orthodontist at 7 years old to prevent from having to take out her adult teeth.  The ortho would recommend steps to create spacing.

The dentist counted and K has all her teeth in.  He said her teeth are nice and white and she is doing a good job brushing, but needs to continue to floss.

All and all, it was a successful trip at the dentist.

K was so proud she was assigned the job as line leader at school. She takes this job very seriously. For those that know K, she likes to be the boss. At the last teacher conference, Teacher D told Mommy & Daddy, K likes to take on leadership roles. For example during Gymboree class, the music teacher would point to different parts of the body and the kids would follow along with the teacher. K had the routine down from the previous classes and she took command of the class. Pretty soon the kids followed her instead of the teacher!

Another job K likes is reading bedtime stories to Bella.

Chinatown Tourist

Bella went to Chinatown for the first time. She was definitely a people watcher and looked all around as Daddy carried her.

No trip to Chinatown would be complete without a stop at Golden Gate Bakery for their dan tats. Mommy waited in line for 40 minutes, but it was so worth it!

The main reason we came to Chinatown was for Sterling's red egg ginger party. He is 101 days old. He looked like a little stud with his bow tie.

He had a fancy cake. His daddy is avid lover of nice cars.

Ashley and K had fun together at the party dancing around the stage.

Auntie Stef hung out most of Saturday.  She was so helpful with the girls.

After Auntie Stef took this picture, K told her, "Text it to me!" Mommy asked, K where did she learn that from and she said, "From you Mommy!"

Mason also came over. He had fun building a magna tile tower.

K is Mommy's helper when it comes to folding clothes. She folded the towels neatly and put in a pile. She wanted to snap all the buttons on the onesie before folding it.

Bella is starting to sit up more on her own without needing as much support.

It's becoming more difficult to change her diaper. The moment you put her down, she rolls over.

Bella still gets a kick out of whenever someone says boo to her and can't stop laughing.

Check out the major chubs on her legs!

She wasn't smiles earlier in the week though. She was sick with a running nose and temperature. She was super cranky and woke up in the middle of the night. During the day, she would be fine one minute and then all of a sudden just start crying. Thankfully she is feeling better!

Two Times the Celebrations

Mommy and the bridesmaids threw Auntie Michelle a bridal shower on Saturday. It was a combined party with family and friends. Here's a picture of all the extended family who attended.

While Mommy was out, Aiden came over for a play date.  In the afternoon, Daddy filled up the wading pool and K went in for a dip.

Julia and Nicholas were in town for their annual visit from Japan. K was so happy to see them. They had a tea party.

Tao Pao had a big 90th birthday celebration at Koi Palace in the evening.

That same night, KQEQ was filming a documentary about shark fin soup and asked our dinner party to be filmed. The show will air in October.

Daddy and K flashed a big smile for the camera.

Auntie Suzy loves holding babies. She's such a natural mommy!

She fed Bella jook for dinner.

Congrats Michelle & Happy Birthday Tao Pao!

What's New

Bella sits with her family every night at dinner.  K likes to help feed her sister.  She tells Bella to open wide.

Some nights, K wants to help Bella finish her food.  She particularly likes the pureed pears and sweet potato.

Tuesdays is share day at K's school.  This past week she was asked to bring her favorite book to share with her classmates.  She picked one of her Curious George books.

Bella is one active baby.  If you put her on the floor she won't lay still.  Mommy and Daddy have to keep a close eye on her.  One time, Mommy turned around for a second and Bella rolled up onto her changing mat.

She also likes to pull off the animals on her activity mat.  Bella's hair is getting long again and will soon cover her eyes, so she started wearing clips. Although the back of her head is balding since she rolls around and scoots in her crib.

Future Scientist in the Making

On Saturday, the girls had a play date.  Uncle Sherman played with all the kids. It was like Daddy daycare. Everyone face timed with Auntie Cindy when she was on her lunch break at work.

Allison and Aiden had a big jumpy house in their backyard. K burned off a ton of energy and got a good work out.

When K woke up Sunday morning, she surprised Mommy and Daddy by picking out her clothes in her dresser and changing all by herself. She came downstairs and said, "Ta Da!"

In the afternoon, K went with Daddy to work, so he could prep an experiment. She badged to get into the building.

She walked the halls of the labs. She told Daddy this looks like a doctor's office.

Daddy put K to work. He had her mix reagents which was really water.

Daddy gave her another job to refill his pipette rack.

K conducted her own experiment too.  Safety first; Daddy had her wear goggles.  She poured water onto dry ice and was surprised to see what happened next.

She blew the vapor.

She told Daddy that was cool!

After lab, K went to Daddy's desk. When it was time to leave, she told Daddy she wants to come back to work with him again!

The weekend ended with a walk around San Mateo and a special treat at CREAM.

6 Month Check-Up

Bella had her 6 month check-up earlier this week.  Dr. Mason was on vacation, so another peditrician saw Bella. She was impressed how cooperative Bella was when she examined her.

Her stats for this appointment were:
15 pounds, 10 ounces (36%) weight
26.5 inches (75%)  height
42 cm (39%) head circumference

Bella got a round of vaccines at this visit.  Poor baby...she didn't know what hit her.

Mommy & Daddy didn't pick her up yet since she had one more shot.  Shots are never any fun.

Bella has been enjoying daycare.  Lolita will text Mommy pics during the day.  In the afternoon, Bella goes in the yard and can sit up in the car.  Lolita says Bella is very active and rolls a lot on the mat.

K is also enjoying her new classroom. They have been practicing writing different letters each day. At drop off, K showed Mommy she could write the letter, A.

She has been doing science projects.  She examined a pinecone with a magnifying glass and did an experiment to see what happens to a pinecone when it is put in a cup of water.

During art class, she and her friends made cat masks.

Her teachers made cloud dough for the kids to play with. K had fun scooping it up. Being a kid is so much fun!
